That's me! - Heather Larson

This year -- 2007 -- I am celebrating my tenth year in radio! I've seen a lot of changes in the last ten years and have heard a ton of music. I started out playing pop music in Fremont, California on my college radio station KOHL at Ohlone College. From there I landed at my first radio job at classic rocker KFOX in San Jose and have had countless gigs since which have taken me to format such as AOR (album-oriented rock), 80s alternative rock, sports, Hot AC (adult contemporary), CHR (contemporary hit radio or Top 40), rhythmic, and Hip-Hop.

I've written online music news for 1047KISSFM.com and now 987ThePeak.com. The Peak here in Phoenix (KPKX) is now my home. You can even listen to me online every Saturday night for my all-request "Peak Party" at 987ThePeak.com. The music we play spans "70s, 80s and Whatever We Want," which could mean anything but mostly means we play four decades of hits with the biggest music library in Phoenix, Arizona.

When I was at KISS, I was the morning news person and the show's producer for "Kid and Ruben in the Morning." I've interviewed everyone from Jennifer Lopez to Jessica Simpson (when J. Lo was extremely famous and Jessica not so much). I wrote my news reports and even long-form programming like concert specials about Eminem, Usher, and Nelly.

After KISS, I took the plunge into journalism and haven't looked back since. I've been published in a variety of places: Sweat Magazine, Northeast Mesa Lifestyle Magazine, Gilbert Lifestyle Magazine, Veg News Magazine, iTalkNews.com, CNET's Webshots.com entertainment channel, and soon Ignite Magazine.

I have a wealth of pop music knowledge under my belt and have even worked with rock stars like Alice Cooper at KDKB and Greg Kihn at KFOX. Radio has taken me to places like American Idol the years Ruben and Kelly won and to press junkets with famous folks like LL Cool J and Heather Graham. I've been in the same room as Muhammad Ali and partied with the Barenaked Ladies.

I worship music news, music blogs, music magazines, iTunes, and trawl used book stores for old Rolling Stone books about music history. I'm fascinated about how the world of popular music can seem very small at time because everyone is so interconnected. I bring my passion to you; we have a lot of good listening ahead of us!
